Rajini Aunty or Godma was a shining light for me. Back in 1991 when my mother took me and my brother to England for the first time was also the first time i met my Godma. She was a strong yet warm presence. She was primarily the reason for me and my brother to cinolete our Undergraduate studies in the England. I remember the countless days and nights in the summer of 2004 when she was at the forefront in aiding my university application to become successful. I cherish the countless weekends and Holidays where i would take the National Express to her house and we would either catch Manchester United on the Telly or head to the Cinemas at Manchester Trafford Center to watch the latest Tamil movie. Still vividly remember the car ride back after viewing a tamil movie and just dissecting the story and acting of the movie we just watched. My Godma was there with me in all of my most beautiful moments from my Graduation and Wedding to the most darkest of moments of my parents passing away. When my Father passed away back in 2014, she and my aunts not only attended his funeral but also ensured that my mother was consoled and cared for. As the eldest sister in the family, she took it upon herself to ensure that my grieving mother still found solace in this beautiful sisterhood. She was also the light i seeked when my mother passed away. She was heartbroken but still maintained a strong composure so that me and my brother can grieve. She was not just a shoulder of comfort but also the rock for me and my brother. My Godma always has put the entire Pius family at the absolute center of all of her thoughts and actions. I was blessed to have her as my Godmother and as one of the most strongest and inspiring presence in my life so far. Godma i know you are in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ. Be our guiding North Star in life. God Bless you may we meet again. Janan

Rajini, my beautiful big sister who cared for the three younger siblings and especially to me , being the youngest. Since my childhood, in school and at home she took good care of all of us. I had always been visiting her during my school holidays either at the university , Kandy Hospital or Colombo hospital always being pampered by her with lots of goodies, She was a role model to all of us and a talented individual, who was an exemplary in her studies, an excellent seamstress who made us beautiful dresses for all the occasions and a fine baker. You were still close after I moved to London and always had lengthy phone calls. There are times we had disagreements, however, we were there for each other and she was my proof reader, my editor and an advocate. We travelled together many times to various churches and these memories will linger on forever. She was always there when I needed her, especially when Rishya had a heart attack she came from Manchester immediately with her young children and also when she couldn’t be present for his another surgery she sent her son to be with us. Rajini was kind to all of us including my children and my husband and to everyone. Her simpleness and her righteousness have carried her all throughout her lifetime. My brother and Rajini have always been reminding myself, Amirthini, you had to carry on the tasks in Jaffna after we have gone, I never thought an end of this chapter of losing my three older siblings will come too soon. May Rajini’s soul be united with Jesus, Papa , Amma. Anton and Kamini.
