Rajini, my beautiful big sister who cared for the three younger siblings and especially to me , being the youngest. Since my childhood, in school and at home she took good care of all of us. I had always been visiting her during my school holidays either at the university , Kandy Hospital or Colombo hospital always being pampered by her with lots of goodies, She was a role model to all of us and a talented individual, who was an exemplary in her studies, an excellent seamstress who made us beautiful dresses for all the occasions and a fine baker.
You were still close after I moved to London and always had lengthy phone calls. There are times we had disagreements, however, we were there for each other and she was my proof reader, my editor and an advocate. We travelled together many times to various churches and these memories will linger on forever. She was always there when I needed her, especially when Rishya had a heart attack she came from Manchester immediately with her young children and also when she couldn’t be present for his another surgery she sent her son to be with us.
Rajini was kind to all of us including my children and my husband and to everyone. Her simpleness and her righteousness have carried her all throughout her lifetime. My brother and Rajini have always been reminding myself, Amirthini, you had to carry on the tasks in Jaffna after we have gone, I never thought an end of this chapter of losing my three older siblings will come too soon.
May Rajini’s soul be united with Jesus, Papa , Amma. Anton and Kamini.
